Finally sunshine. Two days of sunshine. Sunshine makes me happy. 😄
So I’ve been making the most of it. Wandering around on my lunch break, camera at the ready. Yesterday I watched fresh water turtles arguing over a log to bask on. Today I watched and photographed brightly coloured birds. Some I knew. The American robin and the bright red cardinal. Others I didn’t. They flitted about in the trees like jewels or lollipops. I photographed two mysteries with the hope of identifying them later on. One was pink. He turned out to be a House finch. The other was yellow. He was a mystery. Not one single yellow bird that resides in North Carolina in the winter months matched this bird.
Finally I got a whole team of avian folk involved. He turned out to be a Prothonotary warbler. Only here in the summer. Poor little fella. Lost? Left behind for migration? Who knows. But what a spot. Pat on the back to myself!
