Sedge warblers. A good start to the day. Any warbler is a good start to the day. They’re such jolly little birds. We were inundated with sedge warblers up at Spey Bay last year, so they bring me happy memories.
I have just watched a marsh harrier pair make lurve. The male then hunted along the reed beds for a while. Unsuccessful again. Do they ever eat! And then I had the pleasure of watching the female perform a spectacular aerial display. Twists and somersaults and dives. Her yellow-cream feathers looking golden in the sunlight. All the while whistling to her mate down below. The red arrows have nothing compared to her.
But then for a while I had four harriers gliding around above me. That confused me. Which one to watch! And just for fun there was a red kite and a sparrow hawk gliding about.
